Opportunity Description:
As an experienced engineer with a strong mechanical/electronics focus, the Tool Support Engineer will work with PPIC’s Operations group on the creation, maintenance and operation of existing equipment and with PPIC’s Research and Development and Engineering group on the advancement and improvement of inspection technologies.
Responsibilities Include:
· Coordinate and manage the deployment of Company equipment and vehicles for transport through North America and internationally.
· Manage equipment inventories, shipping invoices and assisting with customs-related documentation for cross-border deployment.
· Ensure Field Technicians are complying with pre- and post-inspection maintenance schedules.
· Troubleshoot and repairing proprietary equipment, as necessary.
· Report equipment utilization metrics and other performance measures on equipment down time to the Operations Manager.
· Train field staff on tool maintenance.
· Write documentation for tool maintenance, repair, and operation.
· Enforce Company’s operating procedures to ensure inspections maintain a consistent level of quality that surpasses industry standards.
This position will be working under the direction of the Operations Manager, but the successful candidate will be expected to prioritize tasks and projects and solve technical problems with minimal guidance.
Working Conditions:
This position requires a blend of desk-based and shop/warehouse- based work There is also extensive material handling, both manual and assisted.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
· Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Alternately a Mechanical or Electrical Technology diploma with heavy experience may be accepted.
· ROV/CCTV operating or repair experience, particularly with Cues equipment.
· Jobs or hobbies demonstrating mechanical aptitude, e.g. mechanic, woodworking, metalworking, small engine repair, plumbing/construction, etc.
· Strong troubleshooting and system diagnosis skills.
· Knowledge and experience with electrical mechanical systems, including motor drives, power systems and controls.
· Knowledge and experience with embedded computer systems, data acquisition systems and micro controller systems.
· Soldering skills to make multi-pin connectors like LEMO connectors.
· Knowledge in Windows programming and network communication.
· Knowledge of international shipping requirements and experience with import/export practices.
Additional assets include:
· Experience working with and coordinating team efforts.
· Extremely strong organizational and reporting skills with attention to detail.
· Very strong PC Skills (MS Office with an emphasis on MS Excel).
· Experience driving heavy equipment and/or a commercial driver’s license.
· Pipeline or water industry experiences an asset.
· Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese an asset.
